Found a box today with postcards,,,, anyone else???

From: Gary & Elizabeth Anderson (garyliza@arkwest.com) | Date: 2007-08-29 16:48:49 UTC-05:00
Hi, everyone,,,

I found a letterbox today that had some self addressed, WITH STAMPS,
post cards, for the finder to take. It had a spot designated for
your stamp on the card, and a section to report the condition of the
box, where you were from, etc.

I was wondering if anyone else had ever run across this, or did it yourselves?

Gary

Hi,
We got one of these once. It was in a rather urban spot, and an interesting idea.
I like a logbook, myself, though!

Dublin, Ohio has a series called "Riverboxes". They contain a book AND
postcards to let the Arts Council know what you thought of the boxes. They are
pretty awesome.

I have come across this here and there and I think it is a
fabulous idea, I have yet to do it in my boxes yet, but I
had been considering it already. I know when i have found
them it was like an extra special treat to find.

Yup, outside Santa Fe, NM.

There are those among us who caution about divulging name, home
address, etc. in a public place. Hence, maybe self addressed cards are
not such a good idea.

Found it exactly once. Took one of the post cards, stamped it, and
posted it, with a note that there were only two more left in the box.
Later I regretted doing that, because I also e-mailed the placer.
Seems to me it should be either/or, not both, just a waste of a post
card and postage. They should probably be left for finders that
don't log their finds or contact placers via e-mail.

Dunno for sure, though. Perhaps the placer collects post cards with
sig stamps on them and wants all they can get!

There's a box in Colorado like this. Re: revelation of personal info -
I'm almost sure this one had a PO box.

The Dublin arts council has a series of fancy art work boxes in place along the Olentangy river, each has postcards inside.

What's new is old....this was how they did it way back when there were
all of three states with letterboxes. Bonnie in Massachusetts was
famous for it. Even her postcards were artful. Simpler days then, same
obsession. Jay in CT

I have one at the Dedham Corp T station in
Massachusetts. I have received about 12 postcards in
the last year.
